Elephant Slug

Overview[]

Unit obtained on the 30th of the Login Bonus.

Standard attack: Vulcan. Very poor damage considering the 400 AP cost.

Special attack: A huge fireball that travels diagonally upwards. Cannot be canceled by KOF cancelers. Strong knockback power.

Tactics[]

Although similar in appearance to the other Elephant Slug (the battery version), the two units have very different purposes. The differences (other than the MEDAL cost) are summarized below:

Advantages:[]

  • Huge horizontal range, can hit large bosses and air units deep in the enemy stack (sometimes before they have even attacked), and therefore not as badly affected by rush units (usually Brian) blocking the way.
  • Can hit air units. Helpful with wearing down Regular Army Helicopters and Keesi II.
  • Slightly smaller detection range for the standard attack, allowing the fireball to be released closer to the enemy stack.
  • On long maps, a fireball can be released early for some extra damage, followed by a second fireball when the Elephant Slug gets to the frontlines.
  • Strong knockback interrupts special attacks, most notably Brain Robot's special.
  • The special is single hit, so it is fine if the Slug dies immediately after releasing the special, unlike with the Battery Elephant.

Disadvantages[]

  • Huge blind spot in the lower corner renders this slug useless against King, Robert, Hyakutaro and other tiny long range support units.
  • Limited usefulness against the somewhat common Di-Cokka ver. F which may not always be easy to hit. In comparison, the battery Elephant is a very strong counter to this unit. (Vanguard however is tall enough to get hit by the fireball)
  • Lower damage on short maps where firing twice is not an option.
  • Less useful in the early game due to the cheaper air units becoming less popular.
  • (Applies to both elephants): If unprotected, it dies quickly to many strong early game units such as Augensterm Ver P.M, Iori, Brian, etc.
