Fat Eri

Overview[]

When Eri picks up too many food items in the original Metal Slug games, this is the result.

Unlocked by rescuing all POWs from the Wednesday Daily Boss Event. (The boss stage accessed via the Map button in Sortie.)

Compared to regular Eri, Fat Eri is cheaper to summon, has a faster production, has more HP, and has a longer-lasting special attack.

Normal attack: Pistol shot with decent range and a small amount damage. The range is closer to 'normal' despite what the game suggests.

Special attack: A souped-up multi-hitting laser with massive (emphasis on massive) range, some knockback power and reasonable damage. When it hits a target, the hitbox spreads out over a large area of effect, potentially hitting many nearby units. It has the ability to pierce large units like Stone Turtle to some degree (as the laser hits their middle), hitting the units hiding within. This attack ignores projectile canceling moves such as King/Robert's special attacks.

Tactics[]

Fat Eri gained some attention in 1.29.0 (when Parachuetruck reigned supreme) due to her special's extreme range and instant activation that allowed her to snipe Parachuetruck builders. Since the downfall of the truck, Fat Eri has largely fallen off the radar, but can still be a valuable and unexpected addition to your deck.

Fat Eri's special attack needs some time to charge, which greatly diminishes her usefulness on short maps. She remains useful for early pressure if an early advantage is gained, though. On long maps, however, she is a threat at all stages of the game, even the endgame, which is rare for a low-cost fast producing unit.

  • Fat Eri's laser can be used to knockback problematic enemy units. For instance, against the common Smasher + Ring Laser Mecha lead, the laser will go under Smasher and knock Ring Laser Mecha out of its attack.
  • Because the laser has such insane range, there is considerable freedom with timing it compared to most other specials. Try to use it the moment the frontline or a rush unit falls. Watch out for Jupiter King.
  • Fat Eri is a situational but potentially effective counter to Winter Mortar stacking on normal to long maps. The large AOE upon hitting helps with hitting Winter Mortars stacked near the front even if they are behind some sort of wall.
  • Fat Eri is one of the few units that can challenge a King/Robert stack lategame with impunity. Although she will not kill them in one hit, repeated Fat Eri summons can slowly wear down the stack by zapping them any time the frontline is weak and potentially disrupting them from timing their special attacks.
  • Note that Fat Eri is NOT a counter to Hyakutaro. The laser will knock him back but not kill him.
